What makes Drasnice so specific are the picturesque drywalls and well-preserved stone houses under Biokovo in which people lived up to the earthquake in 1962. This caused the migration of the population to the shore. Consequently, the tourism became more prominent, and the life overnight moved from mountain to coast. Drasnice are a small local ˝Pompeii˝, because you can feel the spirit of the times that have been dominant on this location for centuries and trace the continuity of life and settlements dating back to prehistory.

Drasnice is mentioned for the first time in a Turkish document from the 15th century, at the same time as The Church of St. George. The church was redesigned in baroque style in the 18th century, but it was unfortunately destroyed in a big earthquake and a new church was built in the same place, with many incorporated parts from the old church.
Drasnice have nowadays grown into a lovely fishing village alongside the shore with a beautiful little harbour.
For tourists who like swimming and sunbathing in natural surroundings there are small secluded romantic beaches in nature with no houses nor people around only about 1 minute drive away, it is also easy to walk there.
Very often you will be able to see charming dolphins, what especially makes children very happy.
